Pickleball Meets Fine Art

We’re excited to share our partnership with Tyler Guinn, Austin-based painter, for our first collaboration of 2024. Guinn’s art explores texture, space and grounding through organic sensibilities and techniques.

Limited-Edition Paddles

The Recess x Tyler Guinn collaboration includes two paddles, Impasto and Landforms, which feature Guinn’s signature painting styles. We’re proud that the high-quality renderings of these limited-edition paddles showcase the incredible dimension, detail and texture of Guinn’s work.

Space for Everyone

We found common ground with Austin-based painter, Tyler Guinn, and his belief that art is for everyone to enjoy. We feel the same about pickleball.

At Recess, we think that the most important step is just getting out on the court, no matter your skill level—and inviting others to join in, too.

The Intersection of Pickleball and Art

We asked Tyler Guinn a few questions to learn more about the connections between Recess and his art and lifestyle.

Q: What about Recess Pickleball Resonates with you and your artwork?

A: “I think a lot of people think art is for certain people, but really it’s for everyone. The same can be said for pickleball and for Recess and the way that more people are brought into the sport. It creates fellowship, community and brings people together.

I love the quality of these paddles, because I wanted the integrity of the work to come through, and I feel like everything about it really lines up with what I expect out of my artwork as well.”

Q: How do you incorporate play into your life?

A: “I try to incorporate play on a daily basis by having my family included in my studio practice. My kids are up here, running around and making a mess with me. I also try to not take myself too seriously in a job that can definitely feel very serious at times. The work is serious, but I try not to take myself too seriously.

The same is true for pickleball. People have fun, and it can get competitive, and the games can get serious, but at the end of the day people get out there to have fun and enjoy each other’s company.”
